WebbArtist Phiona Richards has taken up an artist residency in Corby Library. Whilst there she will be working closely with the staff to create opportunities for visitors to the library. Phiona will be in the library working with redundant and de-commissioned books, using the paper as a material to create new and exciting mini art installations. Having been brought up with a ‘make do and mend’ mentality I tend to collect and gather materials including books near the end of their existence to use within my work. I take my inspiration from needlework techniques which historically form part of a woman’s ritual domestic routine.
